Kaal Sarp Dosh is said to form when all seven planets sit on one side of the Rahu–Ketu axis. It is one of the most feared terms in Indian astrology, and also one of the most exaggerated. It does not appear in the classical Parashari texts, and many astrologers treat it with caution. Here is a balanced view.
If the Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus and Saturn are all hemmed between Rahu and Ketu, the yoga is called full Kaal Sarp. If even one planet sits outside the axis, it is partial or not formed at all. Its 12 named types — Anant, Kulik, Vasuki, Shankhpal, Padma, Mahapadma, Takshak, Karkotak, Shankhachur, Ghatak, Vishdhar and Sheshnag — depend on which houses Rahu and Ketu occupy.
Traditionally it is linked with delays, sudden ups and downs, and effort that feels unrewarded until a turning point. Many famous and successful people have it. Its effect, if any, is strongest in Rahu or Ketu dasha and depends heavily on the rest of the chart.
Most astrologers consider it weaker when a planet is conjunct Rahu or Ketu by degree outside the axis, when strong yogas or a powerful Lagna lord are present, or when Rahu and Ketu sit in supportive houses. A frightening label alone is never a reason for panic or expensive rituals.
Rahu and Ketu respond to clarity and humility, not fear.

It is widely used but not described in classical Parashari texts, so many astrologers treat it cautiously. Its effect depends on the full chart, not the label.

No. It may be linked to delays in some charts, but marriage is judged from the 7th house, Venus and dashas.
